ICFM replaces national conference with free practical training workshop – ‘Rising to today’s fleet challenges – manoeuvring for the upturn’ aims to help members in current climate

2009-02-17

In view of the worsening economic climate, the Council of the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) has replaced its scheduled full-day members’ national conference on Tuesday March 31 at Peugeot UK’s headquarters in Coventry with a free training workshop open to members and one guest each.  The umbrella theme for the workshop of ‘Rising to today’s fleet challenges’ means it will be a ‘must attend’ event for any member serious about overcoming the current economic difficulties.

Chairman of the ICFM, Roddy Graham declared: “We have reacted swiftly to the deteriorating business climate by deciding to host a practical training workshop, rather than a full-blown conference programme.  All members are under considerable time and cost pressures and we felt that a free practical workshop to help members address today’s challenges would provide more value to the membership at this time.  Organising this workshop also responds to members’ wishes, as expressed in a recent membership survey.

“With major cost-cutting across the board, plummeting residual values making asset management even more critical, environmental pressures and duty of care, professional fleet management has never been so important and the workshop programme is one not to be missed!”

The programme will offer a choice of three ‘best practice’ training workshops.  These will focus on delivering value from the fleet, delivering the skills for success and ensuring all risks are managed.  Participants will be required to identify what they consider to be the essential drivers, and how to deliver on them.

The workshop will not only reinforce to members and their guests the very high standards of the ICFM and its forward-thinking approach but also underline how its accredited education and training programmes can make a real difference to organisations.

The training workshop will commence at 10.30am on March 31 and finish at 3.00pm.  ICFM members will be allowed to bring one guest with them.

For more details and to choose which workshop to attend, members should go to the new ICFM website at www.icfm.com and complete an online workshop attendance form.  Alternatively, they can contact Lynn Eldridge at the ICFM on 01462 744914 or e-mail lynn@icfm.com.  The deadline for registration is 24 March 2009.
