ICFM Education and Training Update – January 2010

Introductory Certificate Programme

The cost of £99.00 includes first-year Affiliate level membership, application administration fee, access to the programme and competence assessment. The single job-based assignment provides a useful insight to the participant’s fleet policy (or that of one of their clients) as well as providing the basis for competence assessment and certification. The online format has proven itself as a useful foundation programme for corporate sales staff working for manufacturers or customer contact staff working for service support providers. Contact myself to arrange a meeting to discuss these opportunities. Volume-based discounts are available.

A sizable cohort of Business Development Managers from BMW (UK) Limited have been corporately sponsored to study the online version of the programme.

Several members who have recently attained the Introductory Certificate have subsequently gone on to study for the Certificate level qualification. This study route gives a useful insight as to what is required by way of completing role-based assignments necessary to attain the Certificate award.

We now offer a CD-ROM version of this programme. As with the hard-copy version, the training package includes study guidelines as well as user instructions for the new format. The cost is the same as that for the conventional distance learning module, i.e. £55.00 plus £6.00 p&p. ICFM Membership is necessary to order this module.

Certificate Programme

There some places left on the next Fast Track Programme. They will be offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Provisional dates are as follows:

Module One (Foundation) April 2010. TBC
Module Two (Administration & Finance): provisionally 4th-6th May 2010
Module Three (Acquisition & Law): provisionally 20th-22nd July 2010.

The venue for the above programme has yet to be finalised but is likely to be within 50 miles of Birmingham.

The programme content has been updated and expanded to include additional principles and tips for effective Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) management.

Please contact myself or Lynn Eldridge (lynn@icfm.com) for a  programme summary (incl. Nomination Form) or for further details.

We now offer CD-ROM versions for each of the five Certificate level distance learning modules. As is the case with the hard-copy versions, the training packages include study guidelines as well as user instructions for the new format. The cost will be the same as that for the conventional distance learning modules, i.e. £90.00 plus £6.00 p&p per module.

Diploma Programme

As publicised in recent fleet press articles, three members of the last programme group attained ‘Pass with Distinction’ grades. They were Marie Jarrold from BCA, Sara Wisniewski from Lex Autolease and Michelle Hallam from Fisher Scientific. Danny McKeown from M.J. Quinn and Steve Roper from the Prudential both attained ‘Pass with Credit’ grades.

We are now taking nominations for the next programme which we hope to start at the end of March or early April. Please contact myself or Lynn Eldridge (lynn@icfm.com) for a programme summary (incl. Nomination Form) or for further details.

Other News

The second module of the fourth Professional Fleet Consultant Development Programme – run in partnership with the BVRLA – will take place at the end of January. The four-day programme is delivered by experienced ICFM tutors and is marketed exclusively by the BVRLA and leads to an externally accredited qualification. It is now rapidly becoming the benchmark vocational qualification for fleet consultants.

We regularly receive requests for assistance in constructing a business case to justify the cost of ICFM Education and Training. This service is available to members or non-members and applies to any of our award levels. Please contact me if you need help in this area.

We are currently seeking sponsors for our Scholarship Scheme. This has provided financial support for students at all levels in the past. Appropriate recognition will be given to organisations kind enough to provide support to the scheme.

For anyone wishing to use the Education and Training Helpline or needing advice or information on any of our programmes please note my new contact details (provided below).

The ICFM Council would like to give their sincere thanks to the following who have kindly hosted some of our training activities and/or knowledge reviews during 2009:
